Description

Clotrimazole 1% Cream (Lotrimin) is a topical antifungal cream used to treat skin infections such as athlete’s foot, jock itch, ringworm, and yeast infections. This medication contains clotrimazole, an azole antifungal that works by stopping the growth of certain types of fungus. It helps to relieve itching, burning, cracking, and scaling caused by these infections. Clotrimazole 1% Cream (Lotrimin) is applied to the affected area of the skin two times a day. It is generally well tolerated with few side effects. Common side effects may include mild burning or stinging, redness, and dryness of the skin. If any of these persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly. This medication should not be used if you have a serious medical condition such as a fungal infection of the eye. Do not apply this medication in or near the eyes, nose, or mouth. Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: other skin infections, allergies. Clotrimazole 1% Cream (Lotrimin) is for external use only. Do not use it if you have ever had an allergic reaction to this medication or any other azole antifungal. Do not use it on open wounds or on sunburned, windburned, dry, chapped, irritated, or broken skin. Avoid getting this medication in your eyes, nose, or mouth. If you get it in your eyes, rinse out with plenty of cool tap water. Follow all directions on the product package, or use as directed by your doctor. Wash your hands after using the cream. Use this medication for the full prescribed length of time. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cleared.
